Through comprehensive research-based programs, parents learn techniques and skills that help kids succeed in school and prepare for life. PIRC uses key researched-based programs including Parents As Teachers (PAT) and Parents Assuring Student Success (PASS). PAT is a parent education and family support program that serves families throughout pregnancy and continues until their kids enters kindergarten. PASS helps parents improve their ability to nurture a positive attitude towards learning through seven essential study skills: concentration, listening, time management, note-taking, memory, thinking and reading.
Attend the Parent Involvement Month kickoff event at the State Capitol (North Wing Rotunda) on Tuesday, October 7 from 9-11 a.m. and find out how you can help kids succeed in school. Promotional items and free books will be distributed. Speakers will include key legislators, education leaders, and influential community child advocates.
