Communities In Schools

Do you love to read? When I was little, reading wasn’t fun, because I couldn’t do it. I was behind and I really struggled. Then, one day when I was in my first grade class, it was reading time. We all sat in an area and read. I gave it a try, but no luck. Then, I picked up, The First Book, by Dr. Seuss, I really read it! Over and over again, my face lit up, and my confidence was stronger than ever! That book is still special to me today, and it can very well be thanks to Communities In Schools.
Communities In Schools is a volunteer organization that helps my school and me. Caring and generous people from my county want to help my school by making contributions and special donations to make my school better. Science equipment, Accelerated Reader books, and items to represent my school are all greatly appreciated!
After reading, The First Book, I really enjoyed reading! Reading helps everyone in my school become better students, and it helps us learn, and have fun. Right now, I am reading two books, Heart Breakers by Francess Lantz, and The Pearl, by John Steinbeck. They’re two different types of books, with different lessons, but they come from the same people, Communities In Schools.
Communities In Schools is so wonderful, because I may not have gotten that Dr. Seuss book without them. If I had not read that Dr. Seuss book, I couldn’t appreciate reading. If I didn’t appreciate reading, then I couldn’t appreciate a great organization, Communities In Schools!
Communities In Schools is a good organization that appreciated my school. So, it is my turn to appreciate them and say, “Thank you.”
