My Life My Future
By Arnulfo J. Macias

First, I will start by talking about my life and what I’m trying to say in the drawing. The person spray painting the wall represents the things I’ve been through. The gun illustrates the drive-by I witnessed first hand. The Grim Reaper is the deaths people died for their supposed gang territory. The eye with the teardrop represents the loss of friends and family who passed away. The playing cards pictured represent the different choices in my life that I had to make. The prison shows how I had to see my stepbrother in prison because of his gangster lifestyle. Before Communities In Schools was a part of my life, I was lost. I didn’t know what I wanted for my future, but I definitely didn’t want to live the life that my stepbrother was living. Then I heard about Classic City High School and the door to my future opened.

The person drawing on the right represents my plans for my future. The school shows the Classic City High School I’m going to right now. The Math books show that I really need math to make investments and the 100-dollar bills represents the money I’ll be making. The globe and my plane represent my ambition to travel the world. The billboard that reads Communities In Schools means that I hope to go to cities where Communities In Schools are a success because that is how I got a second chance to graduate.

It is my hope that people who have been through struggles like mine will see my artwork and recognize that Communities In Schools can make a difference in their lives too.
