How has Communities In Schools Made a Difference in My Life?
Brandon Mable

After a few weeks of being with PLC, part of CIS, I asked myself a question. The question was, "What is the PLC to me?" After a lot of thinking, I cam to the conclusion that the PLC to me is my motivation. It's my motivation because it gives me and extra push in life. A push that drives me to be better, a push that will last a life time, even after I leave the PLC, it will still be there to motivate me. It gives me the drive and ambition to be whatever I want to be. It helps me focus on the things that must be accomplished in order to ensure my success. Right now I couldn't imagine having to go through life without the PLC. Life would be in its darkest form, because no one but the PLC is willing to push me over the edge, help me run that extra mile, or force me into an uncomfortable state that eventually helps me. With the PLC, it's a positive invisible force, a force I use when I need help or advice for the future. Before I came to the PLC I could have been considered a statistic. I was doing everything wrong; I was in the streets long after curfew, I smoked, dranked, stayed in trouble, and never obeyed the law. My life was headed straight to a penitentiary, each path was a dead end with nothing but trouble behind me, and my soul had stop trying.

Now that I'm with the PLC, I can see my life goals starting to become a reality; my dreams of becoming a lawyer and having my own law practice. I use this motivation to my advantage to rise above all the obstacles that try to slow me down. The PLC motivates me to fulfill my destiny and achieve my goals. The PLC is not just a place where you succeed for showing up; it's a place where you have to put forth a productive effort. The effort includes: determination to complete the lessons willingly, do the extra activities and learn from the projects, that's where the motivation comes in. When you're at the end of your journey and feel you can't go any further, the PLC starts a new journey for you. It's like having an extra shadow, a shadow that thinks, talks, compliments and uses criticism when needed. The PLC is my motivation because it not only teaches, helps, loves, tries, and shows; it motivates.
