WHAT: The CIS Leadership Institute will offer workshops, activities, and training designed to help young people develop skills to succeed as students, professionals, and leaders in their communities and the world. The institute will be a powerful forum for motivated, skilled youth to share ideas and gain exposure to college life and to successful business and community leaders.

WHY: Success at the post-secondary level and in the professional world requires more than proficiency in math, reading, science, and the arts. Students who have aspirations to attend college, enter the workforce and succeed in today's global economy need social, leadership, teamwork, self-development and communication skills. These skills often are not emphasized in traditional classroom settings. Many students also lack opportunities to focus on long-term planning and decision-making. The CIS Leadership Institute is designed to build skills and expose students to people and experiences that will help them develop and execute a plan for future success.

WHO: Georgia students in grades 9-12.

WHEN: The most recent Institute took place Monday, June 4 - Friday, June 8, 2007.

WHERE: Emory University in Atlanta will host the institute, giving students a taste of college life. Students will stay in traditional university housing, with common shower/restroom on each floor. Apartment style housing will be available for chaperones/staff. Three meals per day will be served in the university cafeterias and food court. Other facilities including recreation center; museum, swimming pool and movie theater will be accessible.

COST: $325.00 for students, $325.00 for chaperones. Cost includes lodging, cafeteria meals, workshops, and parking.
