Legislative Information / CIS Day At The Capitol

CIS Day is an annual event designed to create awareness among state legislators about the work of CIS.  Executive Directors (EDs) and guests attend from around the state.  It’s also intended to give EDs a forum to better educate their legislators about CIS so that they can continue to gain legislators’ support for local CIS initiatives.

This year CIS Day at the Capitol will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010.

Key education issues to watch this year:

  • Equalization funding legislation to change the formula to allocate state dollars for school districts.
  • SB90 provides scholarships for current public school students to attend any school in the state (public or private).
  • SB307 provides for a Teacher’s Bill of Rights.
  • HB908 would temporarily suspend laws relating to maximum class size and additional days of instruction.
