CIS Gives a Helping Hand
My teacher is Dr. Hall-Turner. I would love to tell everyone how Communities In Schools has helped me this year. I have always loved hearing my mom and dad read to me. Watching the smile on their face as they read me a story is great. I have a CIS tutor that helps me pronounce and recognize words by myself. I have become a better reader and I love to read now. On Wednesday of each week, I have my very own tutor. This is a special time for me. I get to go to the library and spend 45 minutes with my tutor. I still love watching the smile on their face, when I look up. Knowing how to read is very important for everyone and with CIS help, you can learn too.
Rashavin Fowler - High School, 12th Grade

Faith
After the flood of 1994, my grandparents lost most of what they had worked for. One out of four live in poverty in the city of Albany with Georgia being identified as the 11th poorest city in the U.S., my brothers and I will look to the hills from where cometh our help. All of our help comes from the Lord. PLC has offered me a chance to finish high school and go on to college and fulfill my dreams. I won’t give up because Faith in the substance of things Hope and Evidence of things not seen.

Peace
This picture is titled ‘Peace’: It represents a calm quiet me.
Before I came to Forsyth Academy, I felt invisible. I was that nameless student in the back of the class barely making it through school. I always slipped through the cracks. I wasn’t happy, and I would always worry about my future. Forsyth Academy has given me the tools and confidence to carve out my future. This school – my school – has given me the peace of mind; and now, when I think about my future, I have a silent serenity.
The girl in my picture has her head bowed in modesty, with a small private smile playing at her lips. She represents a quiet strength. She isn’t outrageous in her display, and she doesn’t need bravado to fool people. She knows she can do anything and that’s enough. After holding her breath for so long, she has finally exhaled!
