Position Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for managing all non-program functions of assigned grant(s), contract(s), partnership agreement(s), and/or special projects from initiation to close-out. This position works closely with program, evaluation and finance staff, and reports to the Vice President / Chief Operating Officer. This position is contingent upon continued funding.

Grant Management

  • Serve as point person for programs and as an expert for contract planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Develop, prioritize, and implement tactical plans to effectively deliver benchmarks and objectives
  • Maintain collaborative partnerships with local NEI-supported Communities In Schools (CIS) affiliates to sustain an education-focused program that supports community needs
  • Operate in accordance with grant proposals and budget plans including invoicing and program development
  • Provide technical support and oversight to accomplish the goals and objectives outlined in the grant
  • Ensure affiliate support and contact is documented on the CIS of Georgia service log
  • Assist in grant development, writing and management as appropriate
  • Coordinate efforts and maintain communication with all staff and appropriate grant recipients to regularly monitor and evaluate progress towards goals to ensure all benchmarks are met in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Ensure program operations are in compliance with administrative, grant, and financial policies, procedures, legal and contract requirements, and sound business practices
  • Perform general grant administrative functions such as billing, budget amendments, plan changes, program evaluation, etc.
  • Manage overall contract budget and sub grant expenditures to ensure targets are met
  • Compile necessary information to highlight program progress at required intervals; collect and process quarterly reports, site monitoring reports, requests for disbursement forms and expenditure reports, including requests for adjustments
  • Work cooperatively with CIS of Georgia departments and external evaluators to ensure organizational grant objectives are met

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Effectively communicate importance of community-based integrated student services to the corporate, non-profit, and philanthropic entities to ultimately engage these entities in a mutually beneficial key partnerships
  • Work closely with the evaluation department to monitor and document progress including the development and implementation of a data collection plan
  • Ensure local CIS affiliates’ compliance with program activities, data collection and reporting in accordance with federal and state laws, program provisions and regulations
  • Maintain timeliness of all web-based reports and data collection

Other duties:

  • Identify and engage community leaders in volunteer activities and re-engaging previous volunteers as appropriate.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Communities In Schools activities, educational reform, dropout prevention, and other components key to effectively performing duties
  • Attend meetings, events, and conferences as requested
  • Work in internal and external CIS of Georgia committees and attend committee functions as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies of Successful Candidates

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, social services or other similar subject area
  • Masters degree in public administration, business administration, social services or other similar subject area preferred
  • At least 3 years of work experience with grant management
  • Significant knowledge of grant management and compliance
  • Participation in work groups engaged in developing benchmarks and deliverables required

  • Strong communications skills including ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of top management, governing bodies, and business executives
  • Strong reasoning ability enabling incumbent to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions and manage abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent math skills resulting in the ability to develop, present, and understand information in forms of raw data, charts, graphs, and budgets

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified applicants will be subject to a background investigation
  • Candidates must have own transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance as required under state law
  • Candidate must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time

Compensation

Salary Range:  Mid 45K to 50K
