CIS Program Results

 

During the 2006 school year, the Georgia Communities In Schools network of CIS local network affiliates and Performance Learning Centers provided resources and services to students in 62 counties and 67 school systems throughout Georgia.

During the school year, CIS programs provided services to 98,733 students overall, with nearly 30,000 students receiving sustained, intensive program services.

 

Academics


71.4% of elementary school students entering CIS with academic difficulties improved;

64% of middle school students entering CIS with a failing academic average improved;

58% of high school students entering CIS with a failing academic average improved.

 

 

Progress Towards Graduation


The dropout rate for at-risk high school students served by CIS was 2.1%, compared to 4.7% for all Georgia high school students in 2006.

94.9% of CIS students classified as seniors at the fall FTE count received their diplomas, compared to 88.7% for all Georgia seniors in 2006.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Attendance

77.7% of students missing 10 days or more per year prior to CIS improved their attendance.

Average Gain: Students increased their average daily attendance to 92.6% during CIS from 88% prior to entry in the program, an average gain of 8.3 days of attendance per year.

 

Discipline

69.9% of students with disciplinary problems resulting in suspension prior to CIS improved their behavior.

Average Change: Students averaged 6.1 suspensions per year prior to CIS and 3.1 during CIS, an average decrease of 3 suspensions per year.

      

 

 

In Funds and Volunteer Resources, CIS Generated an Average of $23.05 for Every Dollar CIS Recieved from the Georgia Doe.
