Our network of 50 Communities In Schools Local Affiliates (LAs) and 29 Performance Learning Centers® (PLCs) provided services to students in 62 counties and 66 school systems throughout Georgia.

CIS brought over 9,000 volunteers into Georgia schools during the 2006-2007 school year who provided over 225,000 hours of services to schools and students estimated to be worth $4,233,478 by Independent Sector.
In all, CIS affiliates raised $22.71 in funds and services for every DOE grant dollar in 2006-2007.
Serving At-Risk Students
• 76.2% of students missing 10 days or more per year prior to CIS improved their attendance to 94.6% from 89.2%.
• 69.2% of students with disciplinary problems resulting in suspension prior to CIS improved their behavior to 2.7 suspensions per year from 5.0.
• 68.8% Improvement was seen in elementary school students, 66% of middle school students and 57% of high school students entering CIS with academic or reading difficulties.
• 91.7% elementary school students tracked for promotion status were promoted. Among middle school students 92.7% were promoted.
• Among at-risk high school students served by CIS, 16.7% graduated and 75.5% were still in school.
Performance Learning Centers® Progress 2006-2007
• 87.8% of PLC students improved their academic average while in the program.
• Students raised their average in academic subjects from 68.8 in traditional schools to 81.4 at the PLCs – an average gain of 12.6 points.
• Students gained an average of 14.4 points in math, 15.5 points in science, 12.9 points in language arts and 13.1 points in social studies.
• 861 students graduated from Performance Learning Centers in Georgia.
• Overall 75% of PLC students classified as seniors at the beginning of the year graduated during the 2006-2007 school year.
• 2,011 students have graduated from Performance Learning Centers in Georgia.
